1947 – Group Founded in Cairo, Egypt by Mr Benjamin de Botton, who supplied the first Perkins Diesel engines into the bus and truck fleet market, thereby creating a demand for Perkins engines in Egypt that continues to the present day.
1948 – Appointed official dealer for Perkins engines in Egypt.
1954 – Frank Perkins visits Cairo to discuss opening a transplant factory to produce Perkins engines under license in Egypt together with our founder.
1956 – The political upheaval and revolution in Egypt cause the relocation of many expatriates. Mr. Ben de Botton relocates to London and Gee and Garnham Ltd is incorporated in Stoke Newington, N16 and commences exporting OE parts around the world, principally to ex British colonies. The applications are almost all British brands and include Perkins, Gardner, AEC, Bedford, Leyland, Austin and Landrover.
1973 – Expansion of the business throughout the 1960`s means a short move from Stoke Newington N16 to Wood Green N22, to the groups existing 40,000 square foot facility, which comprises offices , warehouses and workshop. The workshop commences crankshaft regrinding and is operational also reconditioning Bedford gearboxes and Eaton single and two speed axles.
1992 – Expansion of the business requires an upgrade and raising of the roofs on the 2 main warehouses. The company secures multi million pound contracts for the supply of Bedford Crankshafts with Ambrose Shardlow in Sheffield, Bedford Pistons, Rings and Liners with Wellworthy in Salisbury / Bridgewater, Bedford Clutch Discs and Covers with Borg and Beck in Leamington Spa and Bedford Master Cylinders and Repair Kits with Wabco Clayton De Wandre in Rugby / Leeds. The spares are exported to the main markets of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Sudan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Guyana, Trinidad, Uganda, Kenya and Mauritius.
1995 – Continued business expansion results in the company succeeding to secure multi million pound contracts to supply genuine Perkins and Massey Ferguson spare parts into North Africa.
1999 – The company decides to open a new department for the supply of mainland European and Scandinavian Truck parts, such as Mercedes Benz, MAN, DAF, Iveco, Renault, Scania and Volvo, into its main African and Indian Sub Continental markets.
2000 – 2002 – New supplier relations established with the main OE factories in Germany, France and UK and include Bosch, Garrett, ZF / Sachs, Elring, KS & Mahle.
2009 – Emission Control Ltd is incorporated in London in January and is appointed an official dealer of Pirelli Eco Technology Spa., Robert Bosch GB, Mahle GB and Donaldson Filters. Emission Control/‘ECL’ imports the very first Donaldson USA manufactured Pulse Jet Cleaner machine in the UK, to professionally clean Diesel Particulate Filters (also known as CRT`s). ECL also imports 5 computer controlled kilns from Germany to assist in the cleaning and 8 hour baking of the DPF`s and opens its ECL Laboratory in Wood Green N22.
The group now comprises 2 companies: Gee and Garnham Ltd and Emission Control Ltd.
